Hundreds of thousands of Algerians have staged renewed protests against President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s decision to postpone elections. At the largest demonstration to date in Algiers, protestors called for Bouteflika’s immediate resignation.
They accused the 82-year-old leader of illegally extending his 20-year rule, despite abandoning his bid for a 5th term.
Police said that seventy-five protestors were arrested on charges of vandalism and destruction of property.
It said that 11 policemen were slightly injured in clashes with demonstrators.
