Australia has beaten Pakistan by eight wickets in the first one-day international of a five-match series.

Batting first at Sharjah, Pakistan set a target of two hundred and eighty-one runs for the loss of five wickets. Haris Sohail top scored with a century.

But Australia’s Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh shared a century partnership to chase down Pakistan’s target in forty-eight overs. Aaron Finch was declared player of the match for scoring one hundred and sixteen runs.

The next match of the series will be played in Sharjah on Sunday. The series is a warm-up for the World Cup, which starts in about two months’ time.
