US special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad has begun his fresh tour to the region for a new round of Afghanistan peace talks.
The State Department, in a statement, said that Khalilzad will travel to Afghanistan, Pakistan, UK, Belgium, Uzbekistan, Jordan and Qatar.
It said that Khalilzad will be seeking global support for a peace deal to end 17 years of war during his seventeen-day-long visit from March 25th to April 10th.
The State Department did not confirm whether he would hold fresh talks with the Taliban.
The US ambassador to Kabul, John Bass, also emphasized the role of Afghans in peace talks.
Bass, in a tweet, said that Khalilzad is working to create the opportunity for Afghans to address their issues by own.
During the last negotiations between Khalilzad and the Taliban on March 12th in Doha, both sides agreed to make headway.
Last week, Khalilzad also met with representatives from China, Russia and the European Union in Washington.
