US Special Envoy Zalmay Khalilzad has embarked on a six-nation trip to negotiate a political settlement in Afghanistan.
The State Department said that Khalilzad will visit Afghanistan, Pakistan, Qatar, Russia, India and the UK up to May 11th.
While in Kabul, Khalilzad will encourage all political parties to work towards intra-Afghan dialogue.
Khalilzad will work to build international support for the peace process during his stopovers in Islamabad, Moscow, New Delhi and London.
The State Department said that Khalilzad will press Taliban in Doha to reach a consensus on security issues.
Khalilzad will also urge Taliban to participate in an inclusive intra-Afghan dialogue.
