Libya’s coast guard have stopped and detained 113 migrants trying to flee the ongoing war.
The migrants were trying to reach Italy following a lull in fighting between rival forces in Tripoli.
The UN’s migration agency confirmed that coast guard stopped and detained three boats of migrants fleeing to Italy.
Officials said the detained migrants were from Bangladesh, Arab, and sub-Saharan African countries.
Earlier, the UN refugee agency evacuated 147 refugees to Italy in an attempt to provide them with safe shelter.
According to the UN, some thirty-three thousand migrants and refugees are trapped in deteriorating conditions near Tripoli.
